Why
Work with TFP?
1. Attain Life
Goals
We help clients set financial and life goals and more importantly
- stick with them. Most people think about what is important
to them. A few write down those goals. Fewer monitor those
goals, and an even smaller percentage measure to see if their
goals are being met. Furthermore, to be effective, the pieces
of a financial plan must be coordinated. TFP, with its integrated,
holistic approach to financial planning, helps with that process.
2. Objective
and Independent
Most financial advisory firms are fee-based, which means they
earn both fees and commissions, or commission-based, which
makes the firm more of a sales organization than a true consulting
organization. Because we are Fee-Only, we receive no third-party
commissions. This means there are no conflicts of interest
to color our recommendations. The client can engage TFP without
fear of advisor sales pitches or product-based conflicts of
interest.
TFP is a fiduciary
to its clients, and TFP subscribes to the Fiduciary Oath developed
by the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors
(NAPFA):
"The advisor
shall exercise his/her best efforts to act in good faith and
in the best interests of the client. The advisor shall provide
written disclosure to the client prior to the engagement of
the advisor, and thereafter throughout the term of the engagement,
of any conflicts of interest, which will or reasonably may
compromise the impartiality or independence of the advisor.
The advisor, or any party in which the advisor has a financial
interest, does not receive any compensation or other remuneration
that is contingent on any client's purchase or sale of a financial
product. The advisor does not receive a fee or other compensation
from another party based on the referral of a client or the
client's business."
This means that
TFP always puts the client's best interests first.

Experienced, Customized Advice and Personal Attention
We have been providing quality, independent, objective financial
planning and investment advice to individuals and families
in the DC area for over 12 years.
A
typical financial plan is done over the course of 3 to 5 meetings
and 8 to 12 weeks. We provide an in-depth analysis of your
situation. We help you define and prioritize your goals and
recognize any trade-offs that may be necessary to achieve
them. We also focus on educating the client, so you can understand
why we recommend what we do. Our recommendations are detailed,
individualized and customized for you.
Many
fee-only advisors serve very high net worth clients with services
based primarily on investment management. Typically, hourly
advisors provide generic advice in a piecemeal fashion, with
little customization and minimal assistance with implementation,
or follow-up. We believe addressing financial planning issues
in an ad-hoc fashion ignores the complex inter-relationships
between components of your financial life.
We
focus on what is most important. We employ streamlined, efficient,
cost-effective systems. We provide ongoing, independent financial
planning and investment management services to a wide spectrum
of clients. These services were previously available only
to the very wealthy.
